Grandma Schroeder's Old Fashioned Sour Cream Cookies

Sour cream cookies? YES. DON’T HATE. Instead make them and come thank me when you taste the amazingness that comes out of these cookies. I even have two batches for you! This is my grandma’s recipe and she always makes them at Christmas. I would watch your first batch to decide on how well you want them baked. I prefer the soft cakey cookie, but other’s might want a more crunchy one. Enjoy!

OLD - FASHIONED SOUR CREAM COOKIES

LARGE RECIPE: (8 to 10 dozen)
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. sour cream

SMALL RECIPE: (4 to 5 dozen 2 inch cookies)
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. sour cream

Heat oven to 375.
Mix shortening, sugar, egg, and vanilla. Blend all the dry ingredients and then add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Roll 1/4 inch thick and on"well" floured board. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on greased baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes. Sprinkle with sugar or frost with frosting.
