Mango Lassi with a Ninja!

We finally got around to dumping our old (like 30 years old) Hamilton Beach blender and did some online research on a replacement. We ended up buying the Ninja Master Prep blender and even though it has the cheesiest infomercial on the planet (well, close probably), it works very well and makes awesome smoothies. Of course, I am only comparing it to 30-year-old technology, but it did a great job on frozen mango pieces.

Anyway, here is the recipe I used for mango lassi (recipe from Snack Girl.com). It’s a lot less sweet than your typical smoothie. We used frozen mango chunks from Trader Joe’s and vanilla yogurt. The cardamon or nutmeg adds +1 to awesomeness.

Mango Lassi (Smoothie) Recipe

(serves 2)
1 cup frozen mango chunks
1 cup low fat plain yogurt (Greek is fine)
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon fresh lemon or lime juice (optional)
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom or nutmeg (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Pour into glass with ice (optional ice) and enjoy!
